Genres of literature

The word genre can be seen as the categories of literary composition.The two main categories separating the different genres of literature are fiction and non-fiction.The word"genre" is often applied to such literary concepts as horror,fiction and fantasy to mention but a few.It is characterized by a specific form,style and content.

  The sub-genre of literature one should be familiar with are Poetry,Drama and Prose.Each of which  is explained in more detail below.
#poetry.is a literary work in which the expression of feelings and ideas is given by the use of distinctive style and rhythm.poetry is a derivative from a variant of the Greek term,poiesis which means "making".some scholars believe that the art of poetry may predate literacy.It is believed to be a man's oldest habit.

#Drama.is a composition in form of verse or prose intended to portray character.It is usually consisting of dialogue between characters written by playwrights.Drama is performed as play in theatres,or on radio or television.The term"Drama"originated from Greek word meaning action.

#prose.is a sentence.It is a form of language that exhibits a natural flow of speech,it has no formal metrical structure.The word prose first appeared in English in the 14th century.It is derived from the old French prose,which in turn originates in the Latin expression PROSA ORATIO.
